Park Place Library

Park Place Library ImageThe Park Place Branch was established as the Black Culture Center at 3506 Colonial Avenue in February 1970, funded by the Model City Library Service Program.

When the Park Place Multi-service Center opened in 1979, the Black Culture Collection was moved there and renamed Park Place Branch Library. It was one of four such centers funded by Norfolk’s Model City program to decentralize certain city services, making them more convenient to the neighborhoods that they served. A computer lab, funded by a grant from Landmark Communications, opened in 1999. Park Place Branch was completely renovated in 2008.
