Safer Communities Subgrants

The City of Norfolk is pleased to announce a competitive Safer Communities Subgrant funding opportunity for community-based organizations working to advance public safety, reduce violence, and strengthen outcomes for youth and families.

This initiative invests Safer Communities Grant funding directly into neighborhoods by supporting trusted, community-led organizations with deep local relationships and lived experience. Funded programs will address both immediate safety needs and the long-term drivers of violence through prevention, mentorship, and intervention strategies.

 Eligible Focus Areas

  • Community Violence Intervention (CVI)
  • Youth Engagement & Mentorship (YEAM)
  • Prevention (PREV)

 Funding Details

  • Award range: $25,000–$100,000
  • Service period: March 1 – June 30, 2026
  • Initial advance: Up to 25%, with monthly reimbursement based on invoices and program activity reports

 Application Timeline

  • Applications open: January 28 – February 15
  • Review period: February 16–18
  • Award notifications: February 20
