Architectural Review Board
Beginning October 2025, ARB meetings are held at 4:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber on the 11th Floor
The Architectural Review Board (ARB) reviews all exterior alterations, new construction, and some demolition in the city’s local historic districts . If a project is approved, the ARB issues a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) for the project. The ARB also makes recommendations to the Planning Commission for projects located on City property, using City funds, in certain zoning districts, and with encroachments. The decisions that take place within locally designated historic districts are based generally on the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation and specifically on the Local Design Guidelines.
