NORFOLK, VA – The Broad Creek section of Norfolk has seen many changes over recent years and Norfolk Public Library (NPL) is excited to be a part of the continuing transformation.

On Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 10:30am at 1425 Norchester Avenue, Mayor Kenneth C. Alexander, members of City Council and Norfolk Public Library will officially break ground on the Broad Creek Anchor Branch Library.

Located beside the recently opened Richard Bowling Elementary School, the new library will offer an exciting children’s area, public computers, meeting spaces and much more.

“We are really excited to continue our great programming for children and adults at the new Broad Creek Anchor Branch,” stated Sonal Rastogi, Director of Libraries. “This new branch will allow us to provide high touch service to our community and residents as we work to create a city of readers here in Norfolk.”

The 28,000 square foot library will serve as the system’s second anchor branch. NPL’s first anchor branch, Mary D. Pretlow, opened in Ocean View in 2008.
