This workshop provides an introduction to the technologies and processes shaping the 3D printing revolution. Attendees get to see the Slover Library’s 3D printers transform virtual models and raw materials into physical objects. Attendees learn how to prepare their first 3D prints, including where to locate models and the basic techniques for using slicing software to estimate printing time and material use. Attendees who wish to submit their selected models for printing may do so for a small fee at the discretion of the facilitator.

All workshops are free to NPL patrons and and open to teens and adults. Space is limited, and all attendees must preregister. Except as noted, all workshops require familiarity with Apple Macintosh computers and the ability to use a keyboard and mouse. Attendees must bring their current Norfolk Public Library card to access the computers in the Design Studio. Attendees who do not yet have an NPL card may obtain their free card at the Circulation Desk on the 1st floor.
