Project Update
(Winter 2024/2025)
In late October, the NFK2050 team was thrilled to host in-person conversations around some emerging “Big Ideas” on the Comprehensive Plan at Granby High School. We’re so thankful to everyone who came out that day to weigh in on the plan so far and all the voices who have contributed to this point! Special thanks go to our Plan Champions and all the Civic Leagues, Task Forces, Advisory Committee members, City staff, and other stakeholders who have helped facilitate and spread the word about NFK2050.
At the Plan Workshop, we tested initial ideas as wide-ranging as resilience projects, transportation and multi-modal moves, housing policies, and historic preservation approaches. Participants helped the team test and refine the ideas to ensure their applicability to Norfolk from now through 2050. Some pictures from the event are on our homepage.
The project team is taking that nuanced and helpful feedback to the drafting board. For the next few months, we will focus on drafting a citywide Comprehensive Plan that meets the needs of all the diverse residents and stakeholders we’ve met throughout this process. This will be a truly collaborative effort, and we will be bringing these policy and land use ideas back to the public for review in Spring 2025. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, we invite you to explore the What We’ve Heard page on our website, where you will find summaries of the key insights, feedback, and themes that have emerged to date; and find out how this is helping us shape the vision for the city. Stay engaged and help us build a vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive future for all Norfolk!
