[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police seeking assistance from the public with ongoing investigation

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk Police are asking for the public's help in connection with an ongoing shooting investigation that happened on December 31st in the East Ocean View area.

At approximately 11:55 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 1800 block of E Ocean View Avenue for the report of a gunshot victim. When police arrived on the scene, they located a 72-year-old woman suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound inside the home.

The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

As detectives continue their investigation, they are seeking assistance from any residents in the area who may have camera footage to share or from anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity in the 1600-2000 blocks of East Ocean View Avenue.

Specifically, investigators are seeking video footage captured between 10 p.m. on December 31st and 2 a.m. on January 1st in the 1600-2000 blocks of East Ocean View Avenue, as well as any camera footage captured from the beach or beach access points within those same blocks.

Residents and businesses with exterior cameras, doorbell systems, or home security footage are encouraged to review their recordings and contact the police department at 757-664-7032 if they have footage to share.

Anyone with information or footage can also contact the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or submit a tip through the P3Tips mobile app. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
