[ARCHIVED] Passenger seriously injured following late-night crash on W Ocean View Avenue

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk Police are continuing to investigate a crash that left five people injured.

Around 10:40 p.m. on October 4th, police were dispatched for the report of a single vehicle crash in the 200 block of W Ocean View Avenue.

When officers arrived, they learned the driver of a car had lost control and hit a curb before hitting a Dominion Energy power box.

One passenger, a man, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains.

The driver of the car along with three other passengers were also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This ongoing investigation is being handled by the Norfolk Police Department's Traffic Fatality Unit.

Investigators say alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor, but speed was.
