NORFOLK, Va. – All City of Norfolk government offices, recreation centers and libraries, including The Slover, will remain closed on Friday, Feb. 21. This includes the Norfolk Animal Care Center, MacArthur Memorial, Nauticus, Offices of the Treasurer and Commissioner of the Revenue and the Norfolk Courthouse as well as the Virginia Zoo, Norfolk Botanical Garden and Chrysler Museum.
Public Works and contractors have plowed and salted all primary routes and started secondaries this afternoon. All primary routes are clear and secondary routes are passable. As of this afternoon, 400 tons of snow have been removed.
General Services and Parks & Recreation have been working on clearing areas around SevenVenues in preparation for this weekend’s events. SevenVenues’ weekend events will continue as scheduled, including Virginia Opera’s performance at Harrison Opera House and the Admirals’ game at Scope on Friday evening.
Waste Management routes for Thursday, Feb. 20, will be collected on Saturday, Feb. 22, while routes for Friday, Feb. 21, will be collected on Monday, Feb. 24. All bulk and yard waste collections for the remainder of this week have been cancelled as well as street sweeping.
Street parking downtown along Boush St., Granby St., Main St. and Waterside Dr. has been removed until Saturday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. to allow for plowing operations. The York Street Garage and Brambleton Lot will be open until 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, for residents who need parking downtown.
Norfolk Cares will continue their normal schedule, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 21.Service requests can be submitted via the MyNorfolk app, online portal at www.mynorfolk.org, emailing healthyneighborhoods@norfolk.gov or by calling (757) 664-5610.
Residents who find anyone in need of shelter should call the police non-emergency number, (757) 441-5610. Public Safety crews will work with Norfolk Community Services Board and partners to find them shelter.
