NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A man has been charged in connection with a shooting early Saturday morning that left another man dead.
On November 2nd around 5:50 a.m., police were dispatched to the Wawa located at 975 E Little Creek Road for the report of a gunshot victim. When Officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.
The man, identified as Micah L. Bell, 37, of Portsmouth, was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Shortly after, police were called to the Wawa located at 6301 N Military Highway for the report of a second gunshot victim. Officers arrived and found a man suffering from non-life-threatening injuries, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.
During their investigation, detectives determined the two incidents to be related and later found that the shooting had occurred in the 1800 block of E Little Creek Road.
As a result of the investigation, Detectives charged Miquail D. Owens, 28, of Norfolk, with second-degree murder and use of a firearm.
Owens remains hospitalized for his non-life-threatening injuries, following his release from the hospital he will be taken to Norfolk City Jail and held without bond.
Detectives have not released a motive or any additional circumstances surrounding this shooting.
