Man Sentenced to 20 Years Following Jury Conviction for Sexually Abusing Child in His Care Over 3-Year Period
NORFOLK, Va. — Deionn Damian Gregory, 40, was sentenced on Friday to serve 20 years in prison after a jury convicted Mr. Gregory earlier this year of three felony child sexual abuse charges. The victim, who was between the ages of 10 and 13 at the time of Mr. Gregory’s abuse, reported Mr. Gregory to trusted adults about two years after he stopped when she no longer had regular contact with him.
On April 12, a jury convicted Mr. Gregory of the forcible sodomy of a victim under age 13, aggravated sexual battery, and taking indecent liberties with a child under age 15.
On Friday, Judge Joseph C. Lindsey sentenced Mr. Gregory to serve 20 years in prison and suspended another 10 years on the conditions that Mr. Gregory complete three years of supervised probation and 20 years of uniform good behavior following his release.
Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Michelle L. Newkirk prosecuted Mr. Gregory’s case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
"Children are often our most vulnerable victims, and the people who victimize them must face the consequences," said Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi. "Mr. Gregory’s sentence reflects the seriousness of his crimes and the need to protect the community. Thank you to the survivor of Mr. Gregory’s crimes for having the courage to come forward and help us hold Mr. Gregory accountable."

Jury Convicts Man of Sexually Abusing Child in His Care Over 3-Year Period
NORFOLK, Va. – A jury convicted Deionn Damian Gregory, 39, on Friday of three felony child sexual abuse charges for molesting a child in his care while the child was between the ages of 10 and 13. The victim reported Mr. Gregory’s abuse about two years after he stopped and when she no longer had regular contact with him.
On Friday, April 12, a jury convicted Mr. Gregory of the forcible sodomy of a victim under age 13, aggravated sexual battery, and taking indecent liberties with a child under age 15. Mr. Gregory is docketed for sentencing on July 26.
“When an adult abuses a child in his care, he breaks one of our most sacred trusts: to protect the innocent,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi. “We appreciate the bravery of the survivor and the diligence of the police and jury in holding Mr. Gregory accountable.”
