[ARCHIVED] Man arrested following an investigation on Denhart Street

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A man was taken into custody following an incident early Tuesday morning on Denhart Street. 

On October 31. 2023, around 5:12 a.m. plain clothes investigators were in the 900 block of Denhart Street to conduct a narcotics investigation when a person fired a weapon in the direction of the Officers.  

The Special Operations Team was called to respond to the location, and a man was taken into custody without further incident. 

As a result of the investigation, the man, identified as Darren R. Britt, 51, of Norfolk, has been charged with two counts of attempted malicious wounding, two counts of use of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.

Britt is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.

None of the Norfolk Police Officers at the scene fired a weapon. 

Detectives have not released any other details related to this incident. No injuries were reported. Britt Arrested
