[ARCHIVED] Man charged with robbing a Norfolk bank

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A man has been arrested for robbing a Norfolk bank Friday morning.

Ricky J. Johnson, 44, was taken into custody shortly after police responded to the Chartway Federal Credit Union located at 132 Kempsville Road for the report of a bank robbery. 

The robbery call came in around 11:50 a.m.

Bank tellers advised responding officers that a man entered the bank, handed the teller a note that implied a robbery and demanded money. The teller complied, and the man left the bank on foot. 

Johnson was located in the 6200 block of Curlew Drive. He was taken into custody without incident. 

There were no injuries reported.

As a result of the investigation, Johnson has been charged with robbery and unlawful wearing of a mask.

Johnson is currently held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
