[ARCHIVED] Police searching for man responsible for posting offensive stickers in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va (NPD) – Detectives are asking for the public’s help locating 33-year-old Samuel A. Caskey, of Virginia Beach.

On January 21, 2020, officers were made aware of QR code stickers being posted on street signs and telephone poles in the Ghent neighborhood. If scanned by a camera the QR code on the stickers would redirect the user to a New York based blog for white supremacists and Neo Nazis. Officers worked with the Department of Public Works to quickly locate and remove the stickers.

The stickers started to appear again on June 6, 2020, which led to Caskey being identified and charged by investigators.

Norfolk Police Chief Larry D. Boone is responding by reminding residents and business owners alike that such racially divisive behavior will not be tolerated here in the City of Norfolk, “Let me be very clear, discriminatory acts such as this will be thoroughly investigated by the Norfolk Police Department, and those responsible will be held accountable for their actions.”

Police are currently looking for Caskey, and encourage anyone with information about his whereabouts to call the Norfolk Crime Line 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or submit a tip through the P3Tips mobile app.
