NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A shooting at Norfolk State University’s Babbette Smith South Resident Hall has left a Norfolk State student injured early Tuesday morning.
Around 1 a.m., Norfolk Police, Norfolk State University Police, and Norfolk Fire-Rescue responded to the resident hall located in the 700 block of Park Avenue for a gunshot disturbance. When first responders arrived, they found the 19-year-old student inside his dorm room suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The student was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment and is expected to be okay.
The investigation has revealed the man heard a loud noise from an adjacent dorm room and noticed he had been shot. When police responded to the adjoining dorm room, the suspect was no longer there.
Norfolk Police are investigating this incident and ask anyone with information to contact the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or submit a tip through the P3 Tips mobile app.
There were no other injuries reported.
