[ARCHIVED] Police identify victim and suspect from Olinger Street homicide

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Detectives have identified the man found fatally shot on Olinger Street as 19-year-old Keshawn Alexander of the 600 block of Fauquier Street.

Around 8:10 p.m., police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Olinger Street for a person possibly suffering with a gunshot wound. When officers arrived, they found Keshawn Alexander suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medics pronounced him deceased at the scene. 

Joseph G. Burke Jr., 38 years old, was taken into custody by police at the location. Burke, of the 1300 block of Olinger Street, has been charged with second degree murder and use of firearm in the commission of a felony.

He is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
