[ARCHIVED] ATM robbery leaves man shot, injured

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police detectives are searching for a man wanted in connection to an armed robbery and shooting.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. Sunday, a man was attempting to use an ATM in the 1100 block of N. Military Highway, when a masked suspect approached him and demanded money.  The victim refused and the suspect brandished a firearm and shot the victim.  The suspect then fled from the area after shooting.

Norfolk police and fire-rescue were called to the scene and located the victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  The victim was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what has been described as non-life threatening injuries.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, approximately 6’0” in height with a slender build.  He was last seen wearing a grey hooded zip-up jacket, tight black jeans, black shoes and armed with a black handgun.

Detectives encourage community members to view the video surveillance photos and contact the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP with any information regarding the identity of the armed man.
