NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) - Norfolk police detectives arrested a man in connection to a robbery that left another man hospitalized.
At approximately 7:00 p.m. on November 12, 2017, Norfolk police responded to a call for service regarding a possible gunshot victim in the 700 block of Norchester Avenue. Upon arrival, police located a man suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound and responding medics transported the victim to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment.
During the course of the investigation, police discovered Eric S. Collins (30) and the victim were involved in a verbal argument that turned violent when Collins brandished a firearm and shot the victim. Collins then robbed the victim of his personal property before fleeing from the area.
Detectives with the Norfolk Police Robbery Section positively identified Collins and secured one count each of the following charges: robbery, malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Collins, last known to reside in the 1500 block of Crystal Lake Drive in Portsmouth, was arrested in the City of Portsmouth without incident on November 13, 2017. He remains incarcerated without bond in the Norfolk City Jail.
