[ARCHIVED] 2 injured in afternoon shooting on Spruce Street

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Friday afternoon shooting leaves two injured on Spruce Street in Norfolk.

Shortly after 4:15 p.m., police responded to the 1500 block of Spruce Street for a gunshot disturbance. When first responders arrived, they located a man outside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man was quickly taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries.

Around 4:30 p.m., police responded to Larkin Street and Kennon Avenue for a report of man suffering from a gunshot wound. That man was also taken to Sentra Norfolk General Hospital and he is expected to be okay.

At this time, detectives believe both men were shot in the 1500 block of Spruce Street and the second man fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Detectives have not released the circumstances surrounding the double shooting; however, they encourage anyone with information to call the Norfolk Crime line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
