[ARCHIVED] Pedestrian dies after being hit by a car on Tidewater Drive

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car Sunday night on Tidewater Drive.

Investigators say that James O. Poster, 59, was walking in the crosswalk in the 7500 block Tidewater around 7 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling Northbound. When first responders arrived, they found James laying in the roadway unconscious.  He was quickly to taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment; however, he died shortly after arriving.   

The driver of the car stayed at the scene and was not injured.

Once the Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team completes their investigation, their findings will be turned over the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for determination of charges.

There were no other vehicles involved and no other injuries were reported.
