NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) - Norfolk police detectives charged a man in connection with the homicide of 18-year-old Nateria S. Powell who was shot and killed this afternoon on Lead Street.
At approximately 12:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Norfolk Police and Fire-Rescue responded to the 1300 block of Lead Street for a gunshot victim. Nateria Powell was found by police suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where she later died.
19-year-old Lamontraye D. McAdams of the 1100 block of Jernigan Avenue in Norfolk was taken into police custody shortly after the incident occurred. Following completion of the preliminary investigation, McAdams was charged with one count of Second Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
McAdams is being held without bond at the Norfolk City Jail.
