NORFOLK, Va. – A man died Thursday morning in a crash at Ballentine Boulevard and East Princess Anne Road, when his moped collided with a Jeep Cherokee.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene around 6:10 in the morning.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the Jeep was attempting a left turn onto Ballentine northbound, when it collided with the moped in the intersection.

The moped rider, 55-year-old James A. White of the 1200 block of Rugby Street, died at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep, who was not injured, stayed at the crash scene. There were no other vehicles involved and no other injuries reported.

Once the fatality team completes their investigation, their findings will be turned over to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for review, and determination of any charges.
