[ARCHIVED] Man dies following Sunday shooting

NORFOLK, Va. - Police confirm the man involved in yesterday's shooting incident on Timothy Avenue has died.

The case has now been reclassified as an active homicide investigation. The man's identity will not be released until his next of kin has been properly notified.

Detectives have not provided any suspect description, but encourage anyone who may have information about this homicide to contact the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

As always, the Norfolk Police Department asks the public, "If you see something, say something!"

NORFOLK, Va. – Detectives remain on scene and continue to canvass for leads following an evening shooting incident.

Shortly before 7:45 p.m., Norfolk police responded to a call for a gunshot victim in the 500 block of Timothy Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a man lying near the sidewalk, and confirmed he was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Medics transported the man to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what has been described as serious and possibly life-threatening injuries.
