NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Detectives are continuing to investigate an undetermined death incident in connection with an ongoing hit-and-run investigation.
On September 6th, around 11:30 p.m., Norfolk Police responded to a water rescue at the Haven Creek Boat Ramp located at 4601 Mayflower Road.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle in the water and an unconscious man inside the car.
The 60-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Following their investigation, detectives charged Benjamin Sell, 28, of South Carolina, with hit and run resulting in injury.
Sell is currently being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond.
This matter is continuing to be investigated as an undetermined death as the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official manner and cause of death.
The deceased individual will be identified following a notification of a next of kin.
Detectives have not released any additional details at this time.
