Sahniya studies commerce at the University of Virginia. This summer, she worked as an intern with Budget & Strategic Planning, learning how the team plays a key role in the City's operations.

Get to know her with a Q&A:

What's your internship project? Helping design and evaluate performance measures for several city departments. I'm focusing on making sure their metrics align with the city's strategic goals and highlights improvement.

Can you share something you've learned about working in local government? Working in local government has taught me how much impact small decisions can have on the community. It's been eye opening to see how every department plays a role in making the city run smoothly.

What’s the best part of your internship so far? The best part of the internship so far has been getting to know the Budget team. Everyone's been welcoming, and its made things like lunch and everyday conversations something I really look forward to.

How do you like to unwind after a day at work? Working out has been my go-to. It's a good way to shift my focus and take care of myself after a long day.
