NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Sharon I. Byrdsong will be honored by Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander, Ph.D. and Norfolk City Council for her 27 years of service with Norfolk Public Schools (NPS) at the next City Council meeting on June 24 at City Hall.
Dr. Byrdsong will be presented with a resolution for her dedication to NPS. As Assistant Principal at Northside Middle School and later as Principal of Azalea Gardens Middle School, Dr. Byrdsong earned multiple awards and received both statewide and national recognition.
The public is invited to the 6 p.m. formal Council session to celebrate the successful career of this longtime champion of Norfolk’s public school system.
