[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police arrest wanted homicide suspect

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Detectives have arrested and charged a 26-year-old man in connection with a shooting on Hanson Avenue last year that left another man dead.

On November 4, 2024, around 11:55 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Hanson Avenue for the report of a gunshot victim. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. 

The man, James E. Fortson Jr., 66, of Norfolk, was transported to the hospital for treatment where he died as a result of his injuries.

As a result of their investigation, Detectives have charged Ty-Riq Q. Anderson-Gadsden, 26, of Norfolk, with second-degree murder and use of a firearm. 

Anderson was taken into police custody on April 6th in the City of Suffolk and is currently being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond.
