[ARCHIVED] Suspect arrested; Man dies following shooting on Cary Avenue

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A 44-year-old man has been charged in connection with a shooting that left another man dead.

On December 8th around 10:35 p.m., police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Cary Avenue for the report of a gunshot victim. When Officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. 

The man, later identified as James O. Giles Jr., 52, of Chesapeake, was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. 

Police took the suspect into custody at the scene. 

Following the investigation, detectives charged Keith E. Brumsey Jr., 44, of Norfolk, with second-degree murder and use of a firearm. 

Brumsey Jr., is currently being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond. 

Detectives have not released a motive or any additional circumstances surrounding this shooting.
