October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
According to the American Cancer Society, about 300,000 women will receive a breast cancer diagnosis this year. It's the most common cancer in the United States and prevention lies in early detection.
Two City of Norfolk Departments got together to recognize survivors, raise awareness and encourage regular screenings.
Norfolk's Department of Human Services dressed in pink and purple and walked from their facility on Monticello Ave. to City Hall to honor breast cancer survivors. Norfolk's Department of General Services gathered at Harbor Park for moment in pink to honor survivors and encourage everyone to get those regular screenings.
