[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police arrest woman following domestic-related shooting on Dover Circle

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A woman has been charged in connection with a domestic-related shooting turned barricade situation in the East Belvedere neighborhood on Tuesday. 

Police were called to a home in the 100 block of Dover Circle on July 30th around 5:20 p.m. for the report of a man who had been shot. When Officers arrived, they found a 37-year-old man suffering from multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. 

First responders took the man to the hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Officers determined the suspect, a woman, was still inside the home, and the Hostage/Crisis Negotiation and Special Operations Teams responded to the location to assist. The woman was taken into police custody peacefully a short time later. 

The woman, identified as Alanna K. Chace, 37, of Norfolk, was found to be suffering from self-inflicted injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. 

Following their investigation, detectives have charged Chace with malicious wounding, domestic assault, and use of a firearm.  

Chace remains hospitalized for her self-inflicted injuries and will be transported to the Norfolk City Jail upon her release.
