NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Norfolk has ruled the death of a 9-day-old infant as a homicide.
On May 4, 2024, around 1:15 p.m., police were called to the Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters for the report of a child protection call. When officers arrived, they learned an unresponsive infant had been brought to the hospital showing signs of abuse.
The infant was later pronounced deceased by medical staff.
As a result, Hilary D. Johnson, 23, and Zibreyea S. Parker, 21, were taken into custody and charged with child abuse.
Following the Medical Examiner’s ruling on May 6, 2024, Detectives have charged Johnson and Parker with second degree murder.
Both are currently being held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
