NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Detectives have arrested and charged two people following a shooting that left another man injured.
On February 17, 2024, around 8:15 p.m., Officers responded to 6101 N Military Highway for the report of a gunshot victim. When police arrived, they found a 19-year-old man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
The man was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment and is now expected to recover from his injuries.
A short time later, Officers were called to Sentara Leigh Hospital for the report of a walk-in gunshot victim. When Officers arrived, they found an 18-year-old man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Detectives determined these two incidents to be related. As a result of the investigation, Detectives charged Kevon D. Cooper, 18, of Norfolk, with malicious wounding and use of a firearm.
Cooper is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
A 16-year-old male was also charged in connection with the shooting and is being held at the Norfolk Detention Center.
Detectives have not released a motive, or any additional circumstances surrounding this incident.
