[ARCHIVED] Suspect arrested; juvenile dies following shooting on Wyngate Drive

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting incident Sunday afternoon that left a 14-year-old dead.

Around 12:36 p.m. on September 3rd, police were dispatched to a home in the 5300 block of Wyngate Drive for the report of a gunshot victim. When Officers arrived, they found a 14-year-old male suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. 

The 14-year-old was transported to a local hospital for treatment where he later died from his injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Albert J. Sutton, 27, of Norfolk, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, and reckless handling of a firearm.

Sutton is currently being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond.SUTTON

Detectives have not released any further details or the circumstances surrounding this incident.
