Krystle Glover, Department of Housing and Community Development, and Renato Aponte, NPD, were asked to represent their departments on a City-established committee that addressed violence among Norfolk's youth and ways to combat it. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the committee met on Zoom. They both volunteered to work on a separate project, giving them the chance to exchange phone numbers. Captain Aponte eventually asked Krystle to lunch, she ultimately agreed to dinner. Allowing them to meet face to face. They fell in love. They got married July 22 at the Founders Inn in Virginia Beach. The wedding was officiated by Mayor Kenneth C. Alexander and they were surrounded by their children, families and close friends. During the lunch reception, they announced that they're expecting a surprise - a baby girl.
