NORFOLK, VA – The City of Norfolk’s Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is partnering with Virginia Housing and Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) to present the homebuyer seminar, “Chatting it Up Live: Homebuying with Virginia Housing” on Feb. 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Attucks Theatre. The free program consists of three panel sessions led by certified housing counselors, mortgage lenders and realtors.
Buying a home is one of the biggest financial transactions a resident will make. The seminar’s first panel, “Preparing for Homeownership,” will help residents understand the responsibilities of homebuying as well as ways to ensure they are financially prepared.
“Exploring Lenders, Mortgages and the Loan Process,” will discuss eligibility, closing costs, grants and more with a panel of mortgage lenders. Working with a lender before starting the home search can help residents set realistic expectations about the costs of a mortgage and what is within budget.
The final panel, “Find the Right Home,” will be led by realtors and show residents through the homebuying process.
