[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police arrest serial ABC store burglar

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Detectives have arrested a man wanted in connection with five commercial burglaries.  

On Sunday, August 27th, around 4:00 a.m., Police responded to an alarm call at an ABC store located at 1595 International Blvd. When officers arrived on scene, they observed a car leaving quickly from the parking lot. Police continued to follow after the car until it crashed in the 5200 block of Norview Avenue. After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody.  

As a result of the investigation, Detectives have charged Donte L. Smith, 35, with multiple felonies associated with the burglary of the five ABC stores located at: 7862 Tidewater Drive, 2301 Colley Avenue, 7550 Granby Street, 159 W. Ocean View Avenue, and 1595 International Blvd.

Smith was also charged with grand larceny (stolen auto) and the burglary of a gas station at 3502 E. Princess Anne Road that occurred on November 26th.   

Smith is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail.
