For the fourth year in a row, the Hispanic Leadership Forum of Hampton Roads, Inc., and the Norfolk Public Library (NPL) are partnering to present the Hispanic Trailblazers Awards Ceremony and Reception.
Hispanic Trailblazers in Hampton Roads to be Recognized by the Norfolk Public Library and the Hispanic Leadership Forum
NORFOLK, VA ─ For the fourth year in a row, the Hispanic Leadership Forum of Hampton Roads, Inc., and the Norfolk Public Library (NPL) are partnering to present the Hispanic Trailblazers Awards Ceremony and Reception. The event takes place on Sunday, October 13 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Mary D. Pretlow Anchor Branch Library located at 111 W. Ocean View Avenue in Norfolk, Virginia.
The event is being held during Hispanic Heritage Month to celebrate the accomplishments of Hispanic veterans and service members, and their contributions to our community, while also promoting the culture, history and life of Hispanics in Hampton Roads. The 2019 Trailblazer Award recipients are:
Dr. Gladys Brignoni
Chief Learning Officer/Deputy Commander, Coast Guard, Community Health Administrator
Marie De Pedro
Principal Broker/Owner, World Class Realty and Associate Realtors (Veteran, U.S. Coast Guard)
Jose “Joey” Melendez
Engineer, Newport News Shipbuilding (Veteran, U.S. Navy)
Pedro “Pete” Padilla
Manager, Supply Chain Procurement, Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. (Veteran, U.S. Navy)
Nuvia Rivera
Broker/Owner, Nuvia Rivera & Associates (Disabled Veteran, U.S. Navy)
Also being recognized are first responders from the Norfolk Police Department who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to demonstrate community inclusiveness and unity toward members of the Hispanic community. The first responders being recognized are:
