Posted on: January 8, 2019[ARCHIVED] Badger the Pig Needs a Home!
Badger is litter box trained and loves snuggles!
ORFOLK, VA – He loves bananas and cucumbers. He’s as smart as a toddler and can learn quicker than a cat or a dog.
He’s Badger the Vietnamese Pot-bellied Pig, and he’s at Norfolk Animal Care and Adoption Center just waiting for a new family to love. Three years old and neutered, Badger has never lived outside but he’s house trained to a litter box. Badger’s a pig, but he doesn’t live like one.
“He was surrendered to our shelter on December 1st when his new family was unable to keep up with the cost and care of having a pig,” said Kennel Supervisor Shannon Phillips.
Badger’s a little shy at first, but he will do just about anything for food. “He loves snuggling under blankets,” Phillips said. Take his picture – he loves to ham it up.
A pet pig has a few special requirements. They are not permitted in the city of Norfolk, so his new family must live in an area zoned to allow pigs. Because he’s so smart, he knows how to get into things – so his family should “pig-proof” their home. He will also need a place to root around, like a backyard. It’s what pigs do for fun.
Consider the possibilities: some pig owners have taught their pets to play the piano, ride a scooter, drive a golf cart, ride as a car passenger, or slam dunk a basketball. Pigs are clean (no shedding) and quiet, except for the occasional snort.
Pigs love their humans. We want this little piggy’s heart to heal with love in a new home. Could it be yours? Contact Shannon Phillips at Norfolk Animal Care and Adoption Center, 5585 Sabre Rd. Norfolk, (757) 441-5505.
