[ARCHIVED] Pedestrian hit by a truck has life-threatening injuries

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A pedestrian was taken to the hospital Monday night with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a large moving truck on North Military Highway near the intersection of Poplar Hall Drive.

The crash occurred just after 9:10 p.m. in the 500 block of North Military Highway.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that a man was struck by a truck while attempting to cross North Military Highway. The driver, who stayed at the scene, was not injured.

The pedestrian was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team is investigating the crash. Currently, the northbound lanes of the 500 block of North Military Highway are closed, and motorists should expect to be rerouted. Once their investigation is complete, the roadway will be reopened.

There were no other injuries reported, and no other vehicles involved.
