[ARCHIVED] Juvenile arrested for threat toward Blair Middle School

NORFOLK, Va (NPD) – Norfolk Police have arrested a 7th grade student for a threat made toward Blair Middle School earlier this week.

On Tuesday around 5:33 p.m. Norfolk Police received a 9-1-1 call about a possible social media threat toward Blair Middle School stating that someone was going to shoot the students and staff if they come to school next week.

During the investigation Norfolk Police identified the 12 year-old, Blair Middle School student. She is facing felony charges for making threats of death or bodily injury to a person or persons on school property.

Parents are encouraged to speak with their children about the seriousness of making threats verbally and on social media. These crimes carry potentially significant consequences such as detention and/or fines.

Norfolk Police and security staff from Norfolk Public Schools take these threats seriously and both agencies will continue to work together to ensure the safety of our students and our community.
