[ARCHIVED] Man wanted, arrested for commercial robberies

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police have arrested a man wanted for commercial robberies in Norfolk.

Demond A. White (30) was arrested without incident on November 29, 2017.  Detectives positively identified White during the course of their investigations into two commercial robbery incidents.

Robbery detectives confirm White entered the Tinee Giant located at 2338 E. Princess Anne Road on November 14, 2017.  During the incident, White brandished a handgun and demanded money from the store clerks.  The clerks fled to the back of the business and White ran from the location before police arrived.  No injuries were reported to have occurred.

On November 17, 2017, White was again armed with a handgun and demanded money as he entered the Good Time Mini Mart located at 2327 Sewells Point Road.  After obtaining money, White discharged his handgun before exiting the business.  None of the victims were injured during the robbery and White fled from the area before first responders arrived.

As a result of their investigations, detectives secured charges for the following offenses:

  • Robbery (two counts)
  • Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (two counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (two counts)
  • Attempted Felonious Assault (one count)
  • Wearing a Mask in Public (two counts)


Demond A. White was last known to reside in the 3700 block of Deep Creek Boulevard in the City of Portsmouth.  He is currently being held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
