[ARCHIVED] Police charge man in connection with fatal hit-and-run crash

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Detectives have charged a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a Norfolk man Thursday Night.

Police investigate hit and run fatality on Military Highway

On November 29, 2017, police responded to the 100 block of S. Military Highway around 9:30 p.m. for a motor vehicle crash with injuries involving a pedestrian. When first responders arrived, they located Michael C. Flowers, 27, of the 1000 block of Mariner Street, lying in the roadway unconscious. Despite medical care, Flowers was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle, a gold Audi A6, fled the scene prior to police arrival.  As police were searching the area for the suspect vehicle, they located the Audi parked in the 5500 block of Brookeville Road. 

Shortly thereafter, Lloyd E. Vines, 57, of the 5500 block of Brookeville Road was charged with felony hit and run and drive while suspended.

Vines is being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.
