[ARCHIVED] 1 dead, 1 detained in Hampton Boulevard shooting

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – One man has died, and another man has been detained in an overnight shooting on Hampton Boulevard.

Around 3:40 a.m., police responded to a residence in the 6100 block of Hampton Boulevard for a gunshot disturbance. Once there, they located a 46-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was quickly taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment; however, he died shortly after arriving.

Police detained a 52-year-old man at the scene.

The man is currently being questioned by detectives at the Police Operations Center on E. Va. Beach Boulevard.  If charges are secured against him, his identification and list of charges will be released.

Detectives have not released the motive or circumstances surrounding this shooting incident.
